May Closed Days

We will be closed Thursday May16th for the College and Career field trip to Rincon. As well as Wednesday the 29th for the monthly community night. We are sorry for any inconveniences and hope to see you at each event.

Tribal PREP- Session #11 4/29/13


Miyuyam,

We hope everyone has some fun planned for the weekend. We are continuing the Becoming A Responsible Teen (BART) section of Tribal PREP.  The topic for session #11 is Spreading The Word of Prevention. The focus of session #11 is practicing effective communication strategies to talk with friends & partners about preventing pregnancy & HIV/STI's. We have two fun activities "Getting Out of Risky Situations" & " Spreading the Word Practice" planned for Monday. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday. 
  • The end of the Program Celebration has been rescheduled for July @ Knotts Berry Farm amusement park. 
  • The Youth Center will now be holding Aquatic Camp in June!!! 
  • We are planning a small party for all parents and youth at the end of the 12th session at the Ballard Center! We will have dessert & present Tribal PREP certificates to all the youth.
  • Make-up sessions will be held at the Youth Center starting on Monday May 13th from 5:00p.m. - 7:00p.m.
  • We will have $10 Target, Starbucks and McDonalds gift cards for all participants (including make-ups).
  • We are distributing or last 2 remaining $25 gas cards to those families who carpool.

CalFresh Promotion Project- 4/30/13

Miyuyam,

The San Diego American Indian Health Center is starting a new CalFresh Promotion Project this Tuesday April 30th at 6:00p.m. at the Ballard Center. We are hosting 3 sessions about nutrition, eating healthy on a budget and reducing consumption of sugary drinks. We have free cook books, tote bags and a gift card raffle (3 $10 Walmart cards each session)

April Closed Days

Tribal PREP- Session #10 4/22/13

We hope everyone enjoys the great weather this weekend. We are continuing the Becoming A Responsible Teen (BART) section of Tribal PREP.  The topic for session #10 is Personalizing the Risks of HIV/Teen Pregnancy. The focus of session #10 is watching a documentary about Native American individuals effected by HIV and teen pregnancy. We have two powerful videos called "Teen Parent Panel" & "HIV Positive Testimonial" planned for Monday. USD Baseball Game











Sunday April 14th the Youth Center was invited to USD for a campus tour and complimentary Baseball game from Inter Tribal Sports. The day was a huge success, with our youth members getting a full dose of college sports and college life. We would like to thank USD and Inter Tribal Sports for the opportunity and look forward to more activities in the future.

We hope everyone made it through the cold weekend. We are continuing the Becoming A Responsible Teen (BART) section of Tribal PREP.  The topic for session #9 is practicing assertive communication skills. The focus of session #9 is for the youth to practice the techniques that can help them make responsible decisions in risky situations. We have two fun activities called "Ways to Say No" & "Assertive Communication Practice" planned for today.
