Community Night & Soaring Eagles- Wednesday June 26th

Please join the San Diego American Indian Health Center for another Community Night & Soaring Eagles Powwow Workshop.

This month we will be at Balboa Park's Pepper Grove Playground (Park Blvd. 92101).

Our presentation will be conducted by Sal Garcia from the San Diego County Office of Education Friday Night Live program.

Mr. Garcia is going to discuss the problem of bullying and how we can find solutions in our community. Mr. Garcia is also going to help our community understand the new trend of cyber bullying.

Buss Passes

Due to the high demand of bus Passes for the summer, youth members are now required to attend the Youth Center 12 times a month instead of 7 times.

Hello every one, we hope you all are having a good start for the summer, the time for water fun is nearing so all who have applied to this years aquatic camp need to come a get there medical forms signed returned to us by JUNE 19th! Those who have NOT returned them completed WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND. So please come in and get them as soon as possible!

Also just a friendly reminder this Saturday June 8th is the Honoring Graduates, College Bound, and all youth members being promoted to the next grade level Barbecue! Be sure to come and join us at the beach.

Tribal PREP- Last Make-UP Session 6/3/13

We hope everyone is ready for the summer/ powwow season. We are now moving into our last MAKE-UP session. You must attend all 12 sessions to be eligible for the Knotts Berry Farm trip. If you have any questions please call the Youth Center.

We are hosting the make-up session at the Youth Center from 5p.m.- 7p.m. on Monday June 3rd. We are not going to offer any other make-up days after June 3rd.

We hope everyone has some fun planned for this hot weekend. We are finishing the last session of our regularly scheduled Tribal PREP program.  The topic for session #12 is Reflecting on Lessons Learned. The focus of session #12 is to review and reinforce the knowledge we have learned. We have two fun activities "Final HIV Feud" &" Tribal PREP Party" planned for Monday. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday. 

• All families are invited to our 12th session party. We will have dessert & present Tribal PREP certificates to all the youth.

We hope everyone has some fun planned for the weekend. We are continuing the Becoming A Responsible Teen (BART) section of Tribal PREP.  The topic for session #11 is Spreading The Word of Prevention. The focus of session #11 is practicing effective communication strategies to talk with friends & partners about preventing pregnancy & HIV/STI's. We have two fun activities "Getting Out of Risky Situations" & " Spreading the Word Practice" planned for Monday. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.

• The Youth Center will now be holding Aquatic Camp in June!!! 
• We are planning a small party for all parents and youth at the end of the 12th session at the Ballard Center! We will have dessert & present Tribal PREP certificates to all the youth.

CalFresh Promotion Project- 4/30/13

The San Diego American Indian Health Center is starting a new CalFresh Promotion Project this Tuesday April 30th at 6:00p.m. at the Ballard Center. We are hosting 3 sessions about nutrition, eating healthy on a budget and reducing consumption of sugary drinks. We have free cook books, tote bags and a gift card raffle (3 $10 Walmart cards each session)

Tribal PREP- Session #10 4/22/13

We hope everyone enjoys the great weather this weekend. We are continuing the Becoming A Responsible Teen (BART) section of Tribal PREP.  The topic for session #10 is Personalizing the Risks of HIV/Teen Pregnancy. The focus of session #10 is watching a documentary about Native American individuals effected by HIV and teen pregnancy. We have two powerful videos called "Teen Parent Panel" & "HIV Positive Testimonial" planned for Monday. USD Baseball Game

Sunday April 14th the Youth Center was invited to USD for a campus tour and complimentary Baseball game from Inter Tribal Sports. The day was a huge success, with our youth members getting a full dose of college sports and college life. We would like to thank USD and Inter Tribal Sports for the opportunity and look forward to more activities in the future.
